My friend and I were going on a trip that included London for a few days, so her Birthday Card had a map of London and suitcases for a theme. The map was a free image downloaded from the internet and the suitcase stamp is from Bella and the sentiment was a rub on.

Thought I'd try a tone-on-tone card with this sketch. Used papers from My Mind's Eye (Stella Rose Gertie) and a Bazill base. I also used a bit of PTI Chamomile ink along the edge of the paper. I'll give this to my sister for her Birthday.

I finally have had time to make some cards again and just got a new sailboat stamp so perfect for this challenge.

Here's a nautical themed card for my brother who lives on the prairies. The sailboat stamp is Inkadinkadoo, all the paper with the exception of the patterned is from PTI as is the Baker's Twine. I used a PTI rick rack die to cut the waves and a MFT die for the clouds. The sentiment is form PTI as well. Happy sailing to you!

Happy Victoria Day! I decided to try a challenge for the first time in quite a while. I used stamps from Tim Holtz, Martha Stewart and Papertrey Ink; the paper is all from Papertrey Ink. I colored the bird with water colors and used a Spellbinders Nestabilities for the little tag/sign the bird is holding. Thanks for looking!

Last month the RCMP validated Keeva as a Search Dog. I' m really proud of the time my husband put into training her for this work. She absolutely loves to be out in a field or the woods on a search! Keeva is a 3.5 year old Flat-Coated Retriever.

Here's my take on the color challenge. The photograph is a little drab looking from late night picture taking unfortunately and the detail on the dark brown dog doesn't show. This is my second card using these colors; the first one didn't use any sqares, but I liked the color combo so much, I thought I'd do another. I used PTI and Bazill paper, some little purple flowers I've had for ages, a PTI sentiment stamp and Martha Stewart leaf punches. I cut the squares out on the Cricut. On the leaf card, I used all PTI paper and a brass leaf that I embossed in the Cuttlebug. I spritzed the paper with water first and I love how it turned out. How does Melissa Phillips get her seam binding to look so perfect? I struggled...

For some reason I've had problems getting my computer to upload photos from my camera, so I had to start using a card reader and then last night, even the card reader couldn't be uploaded? ?? Frustrating when you are technologically-challenged. But this morning, it works again.

I found a fantastic music site yesterday "Live From Daryl's House". Daryl as in Daryl Hall. He has guest musicians come to his house and they play together - everyone from Train to Billy Ocean. Absolutely fantastic music and fun to watch!

As soon as I saw this trigger, I was reminded of a stamp set I had. Strangely enough, this combo of B&W plus red, blue, yellow, pink really appealed to me, but it is way off what I would normally pick, that's for sure. It is a very literal interpretation and I had fun with it. I used scap paper and the stamp set is "Doodle Flowers" by Inkakinkadoo (I think).

It's hot on the coast, 32C which is definitely unusal for coastal BC. We don't get a lot of hot weather, so I am just going to enjoy it!

Paper Piecing

I had fun with some new stamps that Rubbernecker generously sent me. I paper pieced the ladies clothing by stamping the image first onto the background paper and then again on patterned paper which I cut out and glued onto the original background. I used Basic Grey paper for the borrom image and random bits of paper for the top image. The sentiments and card itself are from Papertrey Ink.

Hi there,

I have been out of action for a few months now. I quit my job, (classic ethics vs paycheck dilemma) had to design and get a new office space built, try to keep my clients from the old office and put up with innuendo from the old employer. Not fun.....My fun place to make cards turned into a a work space but now it's back to a den/craft room. Finally, a chance to make cards again. Here's a card for my son-in-law for his first Father's Day. He is a wonderful Dad to my 4 month old grandson.

I loved these images of women from Rubberneckers. I used Basic Grey Nook & Pantry paper to paper piece the womens' clothing. It was fun cutting and pasting! I die cut the image after piecing, running the Spellbinders die through my Cuttlebug. I was pleased at how the pressure really adhered the pieces down well. The sentiment and cardstock are both PTI. Moxie Fab World Doilies

For the life of me I don't know where my paper doilies are, so I used this Tea Folding Stamp by Impression Obsession instead. The card base is PTI, a bit of trim from Art Chix and a flower from Prima. If you look closely the flower has little crystals on it, quite pretty and a few rhinestones. The background paper is BG Nook & Pantry. (I almost didn't see that I had typed Nook and Panty....haha) I've always loved blue and yellow together; the first quilt I ever made was blue and yellow with some white too.

The photo is awful, it's a really grey day here.

Moxie Fab World has several fantastic give-aways going on right now. This card was made for my grandaughter for Valentine's Day, so I'll put it under the "Love" category. I used PTI papers and ribbon, some glitter and a page from a French Dictionary containing the word "amour" because my grandaughter is in French Immersion.

I have enjoyed watching the Olympics, so sad for the Canadian Women's curling team who came so close to gold yesterday.

Here's a card I made for my Mom for Valentine's Day. I've had the paper for a long time, My Mind's Eye I think. I punched out the hearts and ran them through the Xyron and then added glitter. The edge punch is by Fiskars. The sentiment is from PTI and the little red flowers from Making Memories.

I haven't been on my blog for quite a while now. Christmas, work and a new puppy have kept me really busy! It's fun to use a sketch again and to try out the tag maker I was given for Christmas.

I've used Basic Grey and Coredinations paper and a cuttlebug folder. I find masculine cards more challenging so I tried to keep this simple. I like the bright color especially because it's been so grey here on the coast.

Here's a photo of our new puppy too. He's a Flat-Coated Retriever, 3 months old now and his name is Daegan (Irish for dark-haired). He is a sweetie!

It's been quite a while since I added anything to this blog, but I have been busy making cards! Work has been crazy busy lately and my husband has been away a lot, so I need to take our dog out for a run when I get home. She's lonely and bored being alone all day. Yesterday I came home to find she had chewed up a pair of my shoes. First time since she was a pup. These cards are going in the mail tomorrow so they should make it to Australia in time for Christmas. I just noticed that one of the little rhinestones fell off the first card, so it was replaced but I'm too lazy to retake the photo. I scanned a Christmas carol from one of my music books and printed it off on different papers, then used a Nestie to cut out. The snowflake is cut out on my Cricut, run through the Zyron and then glittered. I also ran a piece of green cardstock through the Zyron, glittered it and then cut out using a Martha Stewart punch. I'm happy with how these turned out!

I saw the June Bride broach - had to have it - and ordered a few more (again) for Christmas presents! Love them! What a cool building in the photograph. I used PTI cardstock, Martha Stewart flowers and bling and a Fiskars border punch. I used the computer to print Happy Birthday onto the cardstock. This ones going to my mother-in-law for her 89th BD on Nov. 1st.

Indoor photography sure makes it hard to catch little details and glitter, but if the sun comes out later maybe I'll try again. I found these vintage images free to download from sites like the Vintage Moth and Fairy Davis. I wanted to keep these cards fairly simple for mailing to friends in Australia. I really like the rich colors and old-fashioned images. There is a bit of sparkle in the holly berries but it doesn't show.

Supplies: Prism Paper, Glitter Ritz, Perfectly Clear stamps, Spellbinders Label 4, Versamark and Coloriser Gold embossing powder plus a few dollar store gems.

This card was a fun one to do and I used two stamps that had never seen ink before! That's another reason I like challenges. You can't tell from the photo but I used Perfect Pearls to add a bit of shimmer on the background paisley stamp and embossed the bottom section in gold. I love the amazing colors of Indian saris. The circle stamp is from Inkadinadoo and the braid and paisley is from Clearly Wordsworth.

Happy World Card Making Day!

Good morning! Here's a card I made to celebrate World Card Making Day. There's many other things I should be doing right now, but here I am still in my pyjamas making a card! I do have my priorities. I am also making this card for the Embellish challenge; first time I've tried a round card. I had to take a little sliver off the bottom to get it to keep from rolling off the table. The sentiment was printed on the computer. Inside the card reads, "A traveller without observation is a bird without wings" Moslih Eddin Saadi. I'm going to give this to my daughter before she heads out to Berlin, Prague and Vienna at the end of the month. She loves to travel! Have a great day everyone.

Hi there,

I've made this card for the owner of my LSS, She Runs With Scissors. It's Kristy's BD next week and she deserves many cards and good wishes! I scanned a page from one of my music books to use and printed it off on cardstock. On the BD card all paper is from PTI as is the sentiment stamp, buttons, ribbon and twine. I used Chai ink to add the Kraft color. Totally unlike me to put the music piece on an angle, but once in a while you to have to get wild and crazy, right! I really like these colors together. I was trying to come up with some little gift ideas for friends and family that don't cost too much and would be useful. I decided that everybody needs to give a card at some point, so decided to make up a set of 6 cards. (of course I love to make cards so this is a little self-serving!) I wanted some designs that would be suitable to give to a man or a woman and some that will have no sentiment to be used for any occasion. I'll make up a little box to hold them and then I might make some little tags with various sentiments that they could add to the front if they wish. I certainly found that making multiples of the same card was a pretty fast process. I usually try to come with a new card each time I make one specifically for the person I've giving it to so find it slow going at times. I used my Cricut to cut the apples shapes and Spellbinders to cut various mats. Love my Spellbinders! The PTI umbrella card was cased from Dawn McVey.

I think I've made it before the close; a last minute idea that came about while I was out on the school field throwing bumpers for the dog. Although, I must admit I started out thinking that I would try a masculine card!

I used PTI papers, ribbon and sentiment stamp, a bit of paper from My Mind's Eye and a little piece of lace. I also used a Cuttlebug Embossing folder and Spellbinders die. I found the vintage image online from Fairy Davis http://fairydavis.com/. I was going to add some buttons, but then it covered up the little bit of stitching I did and since this is only the 2nd time I sewed on a card, I wanted it to show!! This card came together fairly quickly especially considering how long I agonized over a Christmas card yesterday......

This card is for the "Classy & Elegant" style Christmas card. I used paper from SEI and PTI, the new Poinsettia and Labels One Spellbinders, 2 Martha Stewart leaf punches, PTI satin ribbon, I don't know who made the red organza ribbon. The photo doesn't really show the pretty SEI red paper, it has a nice shimmer to it and the background paper has sparkles too. Better IRL!

Well, I was going to go to bed after watching an old Star Trek movie, but then I thought, "Oh, I'll just stamp the outline of the snowman". Next then you know it's midnight and I've finished my card AND now I'm wide awake. You can't tell that there is glitter on the hat, but it adds a little touch of sparkle. I used paper from Prism, PTI and Around the Block and the Snowman and Tree stamp is from PTI. I printed the sentiment out on the computer. I did a bit of sponging on the background and used a flourish stamp from Rhona Farrar. I used the Spellbinders Deckled Edge for the frame. Lots of fun, however a bit too fiddly for mass production! Tomorrow, on to Shabby & Chic!!

Moxie Fab World is a fun place to go to -- always new colors, trends and ideas so lots of inspiration. I have never made a Christmas card in August, I'm not sure if I've ever made a Christmas card in any month other than December. Maybe the cards I send to Australia will arrive before Christmas for a change! This was an experiment in non-traditional colors and trying to be simple to let the design and color make the impact. The card base is PTI paper, the mats are Bazzill. The snowflake stamp was one of the first stamps I ever bought by Gelatins. I printed the sentiment on the computer. I put some little glass drops on the gold snowflakes and tiny Hero Art crystals on the white snowflake. I am still struggling with photographing cards indoors, but tried a technique explained by Kristina Werner. Only problem was that my cards are long ones! I'm happy with them and hope to try some of the other styles tomorrow!

I love these colors together, very sherbet pretty and soft. I used PTI cardstock, PTI ribbon & buttons, PTI and Prima stamps, tried out my new Nestabilities shape and added some flowers. I also used a Martha Stewart leaf punch. One of these days I will add some sewing to a card. I just never seem to get around to going upstairs to where the sewing machine is.

I got domestic after work and made a strawberry-rhubarb pie. I left it to cool and took the dog for a walk then when I got back eagerly cut a piece. Disappointment.... It was a bit runny and a bit sour, so I'm thinking I should just skip making desserts since my waistline doesn't need them anyhow. Oh well!

Sadly, I needed to make another Sympathy card. This one use PTI paper and ribbon and the stamp is from Heidi Grace's Dreamer set. I used black embossing powder and then sponged the background. I still have problems when I use black embossing powder. I tried buying a new supply and a different brand and also a new Versamark pad. Don't know why black doesn't work very well, yet other colors do.

Camping

I went on an adventure this weekend! My daughter invited my husband and I along on a trip north with her friends. Two of her friends also invited their parents so we weren't the only "older" ones there. We drove 2 hours on pavement, then 2 hours on gravel, then 1/2 hour down a narrow track, then loaded up canoes and paddled 1.5 hours downstream. It got dark towards the end and we paddled by moonlight and saw phosphorescence sparking with each stroke! We arrived at our destination in the dark, pitched our tents and in the morning woke up to the most beautiful, almost deserted beach. Anyone who doubts the abilities of the younger generation should meet this group. They surfed, fished, set up an outdoor sauna, cooked, talked and gave me confidence that all is right with the world. It was a wonderful weekend!

Here's another color combo I never would have tried on my own, but I am quite happy with the results. Thanks Dawn! My photo colors are a bit off, the moss green is prettier IRL. I made the first one last night for an anniversary later this month and then took another look at the inspiration photo and wanted to try a card that more closely followed the actual image. I'd love a Nestability in the lemon-shape like the soap tin. It's been so hot here I was trying to wait until it had cooled off upstairs before going to bed, but by this time it was midnight, so I decided I could quickly finish it off this morning. Two hours later...... and I think I like the first one the best! Time to get busy and clean up for company coming for dinner and start planning a 4 day camping trip leaving Friday. My blog should be called "Cards that take me way more time than I think they will" LOL!. The paper is all from PTI, ribbon is PTI, stamps are PTI and Clearly Impressed.

I really enjoy going to Moxie Fab World's blog and seeing ideas for color, fabric and paper crafts. This card is based on a purse, the Paige Fabric Crossbody. I had fun "quilting" a card and it sure takes a lot less time than quilting with fabric!! Paper is from SEI, Imaginesce and PTI and the stamp is PTI. The little corduroy buttons are from Upsy Daisy designs and I used my Fiskars crest edge punch and Nestabilities double-ended tags.

Kristina Werner inspired me to make these cards. I always have a hard time making a card for a man, so I thought these cards would work. I loved making them although I found the geometry of it a bit fiddly at first. It looked so easy when Kristina did it!! I ended up making 4 cards altogether and it feels good to use up a bit of all those scraps I keep saving. The card base is PTI, but I have no ideas about the bits and pieces. The moth is from Art Chix and I printed off the sentiment on the computer.

My sister came for an visit this weekend and of course I had to take her to my favorite shop, She Runs With Scissors. She isn't a cardmaker or scrapbooker, so I think it is my responsibility as her older sister to try to get her hooked on paper like me! My youngest daughter and her husband are expecting their first baby in January. I made this card for them. We are all very excited. I started looking through my knitting patterns and quilt patterns. July isn't the best time to start knitting though, but I'll have lots of time in the fall.

So sad to lose our Golden Retriever, Bekka. We first saw her when she was 1 day old, visited every Sunday until she was old enough to bring home and had to say goodbye 14 years later. She was well-loved.

SOCKS!!

I have a friend who knits beautifully. She has given me several pairs of socks which I love. I decided to make some bands / labels for her to put around the socks that she gives away. I used images from Art Chix on the front and put a place for instructions for the care of the socks as well as some "Words of Wisdom".

Of course the paper clip won't be there, but it is a way to show how the band wraps around the socks!

This card uses Basic Grey and Papertrey Ink paper, Marthat Stewart scalloped trim, but I'm not sure about the ribbon, flower or brad. I printed the sentiment on the computer and punched it.

Here is my card for Dawn's week 2 challenge. I strugged with Week 1's colors and never did post the card I made. I love the colors this week! My supplies are: Papertrey Ink - Friends till the End stamp, Spring Moss and Dark Chocolate paper, Spring Moss ink; Prism turquoise paper; Martha Stewart embossed edge; rubber stamp from Montoroa Ltd in New Zealand. I bought it last year in Christchurch.

Love this paper from Basic Grey. The yellow flower is so cute and I got a bunch of them at the dollar store. I used the Cuttlebug folder on the bakground.

Here's another card that used scraps and paper that I've had for a long time. I am going to make a concerted effort to continue using paper and stamps that I already have and and resist the urge to BUY more. It's hard when there are so many beautiful new products coming out. At least it's cheaper to buy DP than to buy a metre of fabric. I do quilt and used to buy fabric, but my time is limited, I had a shoulder injury and making cards is a much quicker reward than making a quilt! I bought the little felt flowers in NZ, but found very similar ones at Zellers in town.

Here are some cards I've been making over the last two weeks. My folder of scraps keep keeping fatter. The first card uses the new Damask Papertrey Ink stamp which is really a great set.

I'm trying to use different color combinations than I usually do and use existing stamps (and not buy more until I do) and scraps of paper.

I was going for the Andy Warhol look with the second card.

This card was fun to do. The car was cut from my Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge, the grill was tin foil run through the cuttlebug and the rest was just sponged stamps and a road from black paper.

This card uses PTI "Shapes By Design" stamps, PTI White Shimmer, Lavender Moon paper, and a scrap of deep purple. You can't see the stickles very well in this photo unfortunately. I am anxiously waiting for my PTI order but it takes a few weeks to get to me in Canada!

PTI Damask

This card is for the latest PTI contest and cases a card made by Dawn McVey. I used the Damask Cuttlebug Embossing folder, PTI lemon Tart, Pure Poppy, Coredinations green and unknown black and ribbon. The stamp is from PTI and the daisy and leaf are both Martha Stewart. Can't understand why I haven't been using the Damask embossing folder more?? Not sure if I'm crazy about the color combo, but thought I'd try something out of the norm for me.

Valentines card for my husband

This is a card for Papertrey Ink's contest. It uses ripe avocado, ocean tides, summer sunrise and pure poppy. Papertrey Ink is my favorite place for ideas. I love their paper, ribbons and stamps and find that I rarely use any other cardstock now. I had fun making the olives!
